Accreditation
Accreditation Canada has awarded accreditation to SAH for the period of 2009 to 2012, recognizing that the hospital met national standards of excellence in quality care and service.
“A total of 1900 standards were reviewed by Accreditation Canada and SAH met over 94% of the excellence criteria, a remarkable achievement on the part of everyone associated with SAH,” explains Gagnon.
Accreditation Canada also outlined a number of possible further enhancements, and as part of our commitment to continuous improvement, work will begin immediately on some key priority areas according to Gagnon.
“Accreditation is validation of the great work we do every day in promoting excellence and quality in patient care,” says Gagnon. “This award reflects the tremendous work that takes place every day at SAH and I wish to thank our entire staff, volunteers and physicians for contributing to this process and for their continued dedication to those we serve.”
Sault Area Hospital participates in voluntary accreditation under the Accreditation Canada standards. The program is an extensive self-assessment process, which includes a third-party evaluation of our care and services by Accreditation Canada surveyors. Teams of care providers, managers and support staff strive to continually improve the care and services delivered.
